Winnieta N. "Tony" Pompie, age 77, of #3624 Everett Springs Road, Armuchee, Georgia (Everett Springs Community) died Sunday morning, September 27th, 2007 at a local hospital.
A native of Dade County, Florida, Mrs. Pompie was born on February 9th, 1932, the daughter of the late Walter N. and Grace Dyer Hearn. She had been a resident of Floyd County, Georgia for the past 8 years moving from Ocala, Florida and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Pompie was member of the Eastern Star and prior to her retirement was a self-employed office manager. Mrs. Pompie was married on July 18th, 1953 to Bill E. Pompie who preceded her in death on December 24th, 2007.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Joan Elizabeth Gradyand her husband, Bill of Memphis, Tenn.; 2 sons, Jim Foley and his wife, Pat of Memphis, Tenn. and Bill Pompie and his wife, Debbie Pompie of Armuchee. 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Grace Rogala of Miami, Fla.
Funeral services for Winnieta N. "Tony" Pompie will be held on Thursday afternoon, October 1st, 2009 at 3 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home, Rome, Georgia with Pastor Tim McIntosh officiating with interment to follow in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Pompie will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 2 o'clock until the funeral hour. At other hours they will be at the residence.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Ronnie Simmons, Will Adkins, Kenny Ozier, Mike Karnei, Candler Ginn and Rob Stone.
