W.S. "Bill" Bryan, age 85, of Rome, died Monday morning, April 28th, 2008 at Heritage HealthCare in Forsyth, Georgia.
A native of Oconee County, Georgia, Mr. Bryan was born on September 8th, 1922, the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Lee Bryan. He was a long time resident of Rome and was a member of the Rome Church of Christ. Mr. Bryan was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army and prior to his retirement, Mr. Bryan served as a District Manager with Petrolane Gas Company. Mr. Bryan was married on September 9th, 1949 to Mary Roberts Bryan for more than 50 years who preceded him in death on November 12th, 2002.
Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, David and Beth Bryan of Rome and Mike and Missy Bryan of Byron, GA.; 4 grandchildren, Leslie, Matthew, Nita and Emily Bryan, 3 step-grandsons, Casey McElheney, Benjamin Daniel and Jared Wicker, and a step-great-grandson, Donavon McElheney. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Bryan will be held this (Wednesday) morning, April 30th, 2008 at 11 o'clock at the Rome Church of Christ with Minister Brooks Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at 3 o'clock at the College Park Cemetery in College Park, Georgia with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion Honor Guard conducting military graveside rite.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Bill Greer, Linden Pierce, Harold Quinton, Tim Kidwell, Tommy Callan and Wayne Kelley.
Mr. Bryan will lie-in-state at the church this morning from 10 o'clock until the funeral hour.
Mr. Bryan remained at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends on Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 o'clock.
