Virginia T. "Ginny" Mullen, age 73, of #3 Randolph Drive, NW, Rome died on Thursday evening, September 17th, 2009 at the residence.
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Mullen was born on June 5th, 1936, the daughter of the late Gustav H. and Catherine Agnus Kelley Tafel. She had been a resident of Rome since 1968 having moved here from Minneapolis, Minnesota and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Rome. Mrs. Mullen owned and operated Rome Electric Supply and prior to her retirement, she was associated with the West Rome Kroger for 18 years. Mrs. Mullen was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stephen Michael Brown on October 23rd, 2005. She was married to John T. "Jack" Mullen on October 12th, 1957 who preceded her in death on December 20th, 2005.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jacquie Mullen of Kingsland, GA. and Debbie Mullen of Marietta, GA.; 5 sons, John Mullen of Rome, Stephen Mullen (Pat) of Rome, Andrew Mullen of Banks, OR., Bill Mullen (Susanna) of Rome and Brian Mullen (Mona) of Duluth, GA.; 8 grandchildren, Katie, Ginger, Stephenie, Stevie, Lynsey, Malorie, Nick and Gaven; 2 sisters, Carol Cox of Princeton, N.J. and Martha Bingham of Erie, PA.; 1 brother, Gustav "Hugo" Tafel of Key West, Fla. Nieces and nephews also survive.
The Funeral Mass for Virginia T. "Ginny" Mullen will be held on Monday afternoon, September 21st, 2009 at 1 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father James A. Miceli officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Garden.
Sons will serve as active pallbearers.
A Rosary Service will be held this (Sunday) evening at 6:30 at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the Rosary Service. At other hours they will be at the residence.
