Violet Vaughn

Mrs. Violet M. Vaughn, age 95, of #370 Ridge Brook Station, Canton, Ga., and a long time resident of Armuchee, died Saturday afternoon, May 17th, 2008 at the residence in Canton.
A native of Tallapoosa, GA., Mrs. Vaughn was born on August 29th, 1912, the daughter of the late Watson and Mable Cox Mosley. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church, where she was a member of the T.E. L. Sunday School Class and the J.O.Y. Club. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Vaughn was associated with Shorter College serving as a secretary. Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by a grandson, Barry Joe Brown and a sister, Doris Pettis Gaither. Mrs. Vaughn was married on November 3rd, 1934 to James Odell Vaughn who preceded her in death on August 13th, 2000.
Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca Kay Brown of Canton, GA. and Juanita and Ed McFall of Austin, Texas; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, James Leyden Vaughn and Dean Vaughn of Everett Springs and Donald Crayton Vaughn and Judy Vaughn of Riverton, WY. 1 grandson, James Randy Brown and 3 great-grandchildren also survive.
A celebration of Mrs. Violet M. Vaughn's life will be held this (Tuesday) afternoon, May 20th, 2008 at 2 o'clock at the New Armuchee Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating. Mrs. Vaughn will lie-in-state at the church today from 1 until 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Monroe Caldwell, Lewis Evans, Joe Howard, Claude Kail and Bill DeHart. Members of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class are requested to serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Vaughn remained at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends on Monday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.
