Thomas Bryan "Tommy" Hopper, age 41, of #1787 Old Dalton Road, NE, Rome, died early Saturday morning, December 29th, 2007 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Gordon County.
A native of Floyd County, Tommy was born on January 15th, 1966, the son of Bryant Willard Hopper and Wilma Land Hopper. He had spent his entire life in Floyd County and was a member of the Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church. Tommy was a 1984 graduate of Armuchee High School, attended mechanical schools in North Carolina and Chattanooga, Tennessee and attended Floyd College. Tommy loved his family, loved working with his hands and loved working on vehicles. At the time of his death, Tommy was associated with Gerdau Ameristeel in Cartersville, Georgia as a maintenance mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Harris Hopper to whom he was married on April 28th, 1988, 2 sons, Erick Hopper and Ashton Hopper both of Rome; his parents, Bryant W. and Wilma Land Hopper of Summerville, GA; 2 sisters, Michelle Hughes of Summerville, GA. and Jennifer Stroup of Cedartown, GA.; a grandmother, Martha Hopper of Calhoun, GA.; father and mother-in-law, Ricky and Glenda Green of Rome. Other relatives, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Thomas Bryan "Tommy" Hopper will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon, January 2nd, 2008, at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Derek Hall and Jeff Gazaway officiating with interment to follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Ashton Hopper, Andy Hughes, T.J. Stroup, William Fletcher, Jeff Lumpkin and Michael Shadrick. The following will serve as honorary pallbearers, Erick Hopper, Cody Hughes, Mike Cooper and Mack Driggers.
Mr. Hopper remained at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends on Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
