Mrs. Thera Lumpkin Ellington, age 95, of 1529 Wax Road, Silver Creek, GA, died Saturday morning, June 18, 2011, in a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Georgia, Mrs. Ellington was born on May 10th, 1916, the daughter of the late Roy Lee Lumpkin and the late Placcie Formby Lumpkin. She had spent her entire life in Floyd County and was a member of the Wax Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement she was associated with Lindale Mfg. for 46 years. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Hoyt, Doyle, Hubert and J.B. Lumpkin. Mrs. Ellington was married on April 22nd, 1939 to John Henry Ellington who preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include 2 sisters, Myrtle Lumpkin and Frances Baker both of Wax; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Lumpkin of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ellington will be held this (Monday) afternoon, June 20th, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Wax Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Fuller and Rev. Elgin Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Wax Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellington will lie-in-state at the Wax Baptist Church this (Monday) afternoon where the family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of a niece, Emily Colston, 655 Bailey Road, Rome.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Anthony Lumpkin, Jimmy Baker, Kevin Payne, Jake Colston, Adam Colston and Ray Ellington.
