Sara Wright Spann

Mrs. Sara Wright Spann, age 65, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Mrs. Spann was born on April 2, 1957 in Rome to her loving parents, the late Doris Hardin Wright and Daniel Wright.

Sara spent much of her professional career at Hancock fabrics as a talented seamstress, where she worked for 20 years until her retirement from the company in 2015. She later worked at Kroger for Murray Cheese as the Cheese Master, where she enjoyed serving her customers. Later in life Sara graduated from Phoenix University with a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her granddaughter was her world. Sara enjoyed worshiping the Lord and serving at her church, Armuchee Church of God. She and her husband helped raise foster children and that was their passion. Sara will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sara is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John ‘Gary’ Spann of Rome, GA; daughter, Merecia Thomas and her husband Daniel; brother, Danny Wright and his wife Shannon; granddaughter, Amelia Thomas; her foster children, Aden and Victoria. Several other family members also survive. Sara was preceded in death by her parents and her son, John Geoffrey Spann who she missed dearly.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday March 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Salmon Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday March 26, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
