Sandra Faye Bell

Sandra Helms Bell, age 71, of #1041 Radio Springs Road, Rome, passed away on Sunday evening, May 29th, 2011 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Bell was born on January 12th, 1940, the daughter of the late J.T. and Dorothy Worthington Helms. She had spent her entire life in Rome, was a graduate of Rome High School and attended Business School in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Victory Sunday School Class. For the past 29 years, Mrs. Bell had been associated with Jowers-Sklar Insurance Agency as an insurance agent. She was preceded in death by a sister, Shelia McKinney in 2007. Mrs. Bell was married on April 1st, 1970 to James Clay "Jim" Bell who preceded her in death on June 20th, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Steve Holloway of Rome; 2 sons, Chris Stansell and David Stansell both of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Shawn Stansell and Christie Stansell; 2 great-grandchildren, Abigail Stansell and Isabelle Ward.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bell will be held on Friday afternoon, June 3rd, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Blake Albritton officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of Morning View Cemetery. Mrs. Bell will lie-in-state at the church on Friday afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock.

Mrs. Bell will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at #116 Cherry Street, Rome.

Active pallbearers include, Roger Davis, Harold Murphy, Bobby Davis, Mike Elliot, Danny Wade, Mark Holloway, Mark Ashley Holloway and Josh Holloway. Members of the Shorter Avenue Baptist Church Choir will serve as honorary pallbearers.
