On May 29, 2024 the greatest love story was complete. The lord welcomed Mr. RW ‘Dub’ Kerr home to be with his precious wife Beatrice. Dub was born on November 4, 1933 to the late RB and Thelma Kerr in Cherokee County, AL. He was known to all as Pawpaw and loved everyone. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. If they were playing, he was watching. Win or lose, he was always cheering them on. He married the love of his life Beatrice Twilley on December 20, 1952. They were married for over 70 years. This was a love story that we all dream of. Dub was a truck driver. After 50 years of driving and loving his career, he retired in 2008.
RW is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; a daughter, Gail Whorton; sisters, Alleen Compton and Jenette Garrett; brothers, Billy Kerr and Harvel Kerr; as well as his parents, RB and Thelma Kerr. He is survived by a son Ricky Kerr; a daughter, Kathy Goodwill (John); eight grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. A sister Alvis Pledger and a special daughter in love, Doris Trapp and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor Mr. RW Kerr will take place Sunday June 2, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Reverend Barry Rogers, Jr. officiating. The interment will follow the funeral service at Providence Cemetery in Forney, Alabama with the following gentleman serving as pallbearers: Timothy “TJ” Bailey, Joey Bond, Jerry Kerr, Barry Rogers, Daniel Johnson, Johnny Johnson and Jonathan Johnson. The family will receive friends Saturday June 1, 2024 from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Salmon Funeral Home.
