Ruby Dobson

Ruby Salmon Moore Dobson, age 94, of Birmingham, Alabama and a former long time resident of Armuchee, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, March 21st, 2012 in Birmingham after a long illness.

Born in Armuchee, Mrs. Dobson was the last of 8 siblings born to Cleve and Bessie Johnson Salmon. She attended and graduated from school in Armuchee and was a World War II widow when her husband, Sylvester "Jake" Moore was killed in 1945. Mrs. Dobson was later married to the late S. J. Dobson of Calhoun. Mrs. Dobson was involved in the clothing industry for several years. She had been a resident of Birmingham since 1998 moving there from Rome, Georgia. Mrs. Dobson was a long time member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church in Armuchee and active in the TEL Sunday School Class until her illness in 1998. She was proud of her Armuchee / Rome roots.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim L. Moore of Birmingham, AL.; 2 granddaughters, Jamie Moore of Birmingham and Susan Murray and her husband, Iain, of Broughty Ferry, Scotland; great granddaughter, Amelia Murray of Broughty Ferry, Scotland. Nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Ruby Salmon Moore Dobson will be held on Saturday afternoon, March 24th, 2012 at 2 o'clock (Georgia time) from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home of Rome, Georgia with Dr. Keith Kelley officiating with interment to follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery in Rome.

Family members will serve as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Dobson will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel of Rome where the family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 until 2 o'clock.
