Mr. Ronnie Eugene Motes, age 71, of Rome, GA, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at his residence.
Ronnie was born in Cedartown, GA, on July 27, 1950, son of the late C.J. Motes and Nancy Hazel Paxton Motes. He was a 1968 graduate of West Rome High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Coosa Valley Technical College. Ronnie was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the 209th Branch of the Army Reserves Communication Unit during the first Gulf War (Desert Shield). He worked with Inland Rome as a draftsman project manager prior to retirement. He loved all things outdoors including hunting, fishing and camping. Ronnie was a member of the Floyd County Wildlife Association and was of the Baptist faith.
Ronnie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Adam and Kendall Motes of Chattanooga, TN, and Lucas and Rebecca Motes of Rome; two grandsons, Patrick Motes and Ben Motes; two sisters, Rosemary Hammond of Rome, and Barbara Autry of Plainville, GA.
A memorial service to honor the life of Ronnie will be held Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the Alvis Miller Memorial Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home. Ronnie’s son, Adam Motes will deliver the eulogy. Ronnie will be inurned at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
Ronnie’s family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Ronnie’s honor be made to Floyd County Wildlife Association, P.O. Box 646, Rome, GA, 30162.
