Ronald James Niklasson of Calhoun, GA was born on the US Naval Base in Southampton Bermuda. Half Swedish, he was proud of his heritage, and proud to be the son of a Navy pilot. Ron loved all things sky-related. His farm name was EarthnSky. Beverly was Earth, Ron was Sky. He loved to fly, build model airplanes, and fly RC planes. He looked forward to teaching the Boy Scouts about building and launching model rockets when they would visit or camp on the property. Ron loved astronomy almost as much as flying and would pull out his telescope on dark nights. He hosted amateur astronomers in the pasture for many years. Ron also enjoyed camping, hiking, photography and Formula One racing.
Ron loved to work with his hands. He was an auto mechanic for more than 30 years-a VW, Mazda, and Ford master mechanic. In the 1990’s he competed in the Mazda Master Tech National Competition and came in second one year and third the next. He made a career change almost 10 years ago and began working as a machine maintenance technician for Chief Container Company in Acworth. He left Chief as the maintenance supervisor, but he was still hands on in everything he did. Ron enjoyed woodworking and making furniture and cabinetry and was an excellent craftsman. He claimed to have been gifted the talent from his Swedish grandfather, Ivar, who also was a woodworker, a mechanic and ship’s engineer. He would often joke that his furniture was “built with the skill and precision of the old world craftsmen”. Ron was beloved by so many people. He was kind, generous, and hardworking. He was intelligent, funny, and had a dry wit. He always had a joke or meme to make people smile and brighten their day.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Jolly Mills and Ronald Theodore Niklasson, and his granddaughter, Caroline Niklasson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Beverly Niklasson, his daughter Katherine Fisher (Jonathan), his son Theodore James(TJ) Niklasson (Meghan), brothers, David Niklasson and Robert Niklasson (Laura), granddaughters Jordan Fisher, Kadence Fisher, Cecilia Niklasson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
