Ronald Leo Barker

Ronald Leo "Ronnie" Barker, age 59, of Rome, died early Sunday morning, April 11th, 2010 at a Rome hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Rome, Georgia Ronnie was born on April 13th, 1950, the son of the late William Leo and Elsie Viola Barker. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and was a 1968 graduate of Coosa High School and attended Shorter College. Ronnie was a member of the West Rome Christian Church and was co-owner with his former wife, Elaine Barker of Bobbette's Grooming Salon of Rome. Ronnie was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Dempsey in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Tessa Barker of Rome; 2 grandchildren, Zaden and Amira Cook of Rome. His step-mother, Joanne Barker of Williston, S.C.

The family received friends on Monday evening, April 12th, 2010 from 6 until 8 o'clock at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home. At other hours they will be at the home of the daughter, Tessa Barker at # 10 Rosewood Road, Rome.

A private memorial service for Mr. Barker will be held at a later date.
