Ronald E Hobgood

Mr. Ronald E. Hobgood, Sr., age 69, of Rome, passed away on, Monday, December 5, 2016.

Mr. Hobgood was born in Gallant, AL, on July 18, 1947, the son of the late Elsie Lee Morgan Hobgood and Clyde Novell Hobgood. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for several years and was an active member of the Rome Baptist Temple. Prior to retirement in 2014, Mr. Hobgood was associated with IBM for a number of years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War era. Mr. Hobgood was an avid Alabama Football fan who loved his grandchildren. He was liked by all who met him, had no enemies, was of a quick wit and had a tremendous sense of humor. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hobgood was preceded in death by a sister, Mozelle Treacy.

Mr. Hobgood is survived by his wife, Ora Ann Cerveny Hobgood, who he married on October 16, 1970; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron E. Jr., and Susi Hobgood of Jefferson, GA, Thom and Alissa Hobgood of Oxford, AL, and Tim Hobgood of Wellington, AL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Mary Hobgood of Whitmore Lake, MI, and Mark and Jeannie Hobgood of Indian Head, MD. Five grandchildren, Christian, Jack, Anna, Ava and Lily Hobgood, two bonus grandsons, Jonah Waddell and John-Mark Waddell, along with a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 9, 2016, at Rome Baptist Temple with Rev. Mack Locklear officiating. Mr. Hobgood will lay in-state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

Mr. Hobgood will remain at Salmon Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hour of Grace Ministries, P.O. Box 1445, Rome, GA, 30162-1445.
