Robert Lee Smith

Robert Lee "Bob" Smith, age 68, of the Sleepy Hollow Road, Cave Spring, GA. passed away early Monday morning, February 25, 2013 at the residence.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Bob was born on October 11, 1944, the son of the late Leonce Lee Trahan and the late Carrie Elizabeth Strosnider Trahan. Bob was a graduate of Damascus High School in Maryland and was a veteran having served in the United States Army. For 32 years, Bob was associated with the General Motors Plant in Doraville, GA. and had been a resident of Cave Spring, GA. for the past 15 years moving there from Winder, GA. Bob was of the Baptist Faith and for the past 2 years was associated with Kroger in Cedartown, GA. He. was a member of the U.A.W. and the U.F.C.W . Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert Paul "Bobby" Smith on January 13, 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Bartel-Smith to whom he was married on August 8, 1997; 2 daughters, Auburn Cooper and her husband, Rodney of Pell City, Ala. and Melanie Lynn Smith of Bethlehem, GA.; 1 son, Robert Lee Smith, Jr. and his wife, Tracy of Mt. Airy, Maryland; 7 grandchildren also survive as do 1 step-daughter, Linda Thomaston of Cave Spring, GA.; 2 brothers, Jimmy Smith and his wife, Brenda of Woodstock, GA. and Danny Rainsburger and his wife, Joan of Falls Church, Virginia. Nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial Service for Robert Lee "Bob" Smith, will be held Friday evening, March 1, 2013 at 7 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Karch officiating.

The family will receive friends at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel on Friday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
