Robert Lee Milam

February 13, 1925 — July 23, 2007

Robert Lee "Bob" Milam, age 82, of #2769 Old Dalton Road, NE, Rome, died Monday morning, July 23rd, 2007 at his residence.
A native of Bartow County, Georgia, Mr. Milam was born on February 13th, 1925, the son of the late Frank and Rosa Lee Nelson Milam. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shannon. Mr. Milam was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Shannon Masonic Lodge #100, served on the Supervisory Committee for Coosa Valley Federal Credit Union and a member of Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion. Prior to his retiring in 1985, Mr. Milam was associated with General Electric of Rome. Mr. Milam was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Margie Bell, Mattie McAfee and Mary Patterson, by 2 brothers, James F. Milam and Edward Milam.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Smith Milam, to whom he was married on November 2nd, 1946, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Tommy Shiflett of Rome and Teri and John Davis of Rome; 2 grandsons, Joe Shiflett, and John Robert Davis, 2 granddaughters, Sommer Davis Splendore and Lee Price, 4 great-grandchildren, Emma Davis, Macey Price, Jolie and Lilly Splendore, 1 sister, Rose Bud Schwab of Ogdon, Utah; 1 brother, and sister-in-law, Warren and Betty Milam of Cartersville, GA. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Milam will be held Wednesday morning, July 25th, 2007 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Prater officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Tony, Jerry and Larry Milam, Mike and Dale Bell and John Robert Davis.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Heyman Hospice Care, P.O. Box 163, Rome, Georgia 30162-0163.
Mr. Milam will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
