Robert Delaney Minge

Robert D. "Bobby" Minge, age 82, of Rome, passed away on Monday evening, May 27, 2013 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Bobby was born on March 2, 1931 the son of the late Robert Lane Minge and the late Margaret Hicks Minge. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a graduate of Rome High School. Bobby was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army. Bobby was a supporter of North Broad Baptist Church and was owner and operator of B&S Construction Company of Rome. Bobby was a life time member of the Floyd County Wildlife Association, a member of East Floyd Masonic Lodge #728 F&AM, a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion and a member of the Georgia A.S.A. Softball Hall of Fame. Bobby was married on January 28, 1951 to Dolice Jean Atkins Minge who preceded him in death on October 3, 2010.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Teresa Minge of Atlanta and Gwendolyn Touchstone of Atlanta; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Angie Minge of Rome; 3 grandchildren, Zachary Touchstone of Atlanta, Robert Shipp of Atlanta and Briana Phillips and her husband, Greg of Rome; A Godson, Neely Raper of Rome and Bobby's friend and faithful companion, his Brittany, Annie.

Funeral services for Robert D. "Bobby" Minge will be held this (Wednesday) morning, May 29, 2013 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Reverend Micah J. Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of East View Cemetery with Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home this (Wednesday) morning from 10 o'clock until the funeral hour.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, his 2 grandsons, Zachary Touchstone and Robert Shipp, his Godson, Neeley Raper, along with James Spears, Stan Padgett, Bo Poole, Joe Hofer, Keith Winslette, Wendell Fincher and Dudley Stripling.
