Robert L. Bryant, age 83, of Rome, GA passed away on April 15, 2024. Robert (Bob) was born on August 30, 1940 in Wellington, Alabama. Bob was the son of the late Henry Harris and Gladys Bryant of Wellington, Alabama. Bob was a longtime member of Second Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and as the Sunday School Director and Teller for many years. Bob was a Perpetual Member of Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 in Rome, Georgia for 39 years. Bob served as Treasurer, Past Master as well as Past District Deputy of 7B for 15 years. Bob had served as the Master of the Floyd County Masonic Convention and the Past Master of the 7th District Convention. Bob was the business owner of Bob’s Shoes and Shoe Repair in the West End Shopping Center. Bob had been repairing and selling shoes since 1969 until 2022 when he closed his shoe shop. Bob also operated a Post office in his Shoe Shop and served West Rome customers for many years with their postal needs. Bob was a huge Alabama Football fan and said “Roll Tide” many times in his lifetime.
Bob is survived by his wife, Audrey; son Gary Harris Bryant (Tammy) and daughter Tammy Lynn Bryant; stepson Ronny Pasley (Heather) and grandchildren: Fisher Harris Bryant, Halyn, Ross, Rhett, and Anna Pasley and one great grandson, Thomas Pasley. Brother, Terrell Bryant (Faye) and Joyce Snyder. Bob loved his many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his late wife, Mary Ann Little Bryant.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bryant will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Second Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob Roberts officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Masonic rites.
Serving as pallbearers will be the following gentlemen: Fisher Bryant, Ross Pasley, Rhett Pasley, Walter Tharp, Chuck Hicks, Norman Barden and Jim Pinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be his masonic brothers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 2:00 PM until the service hour at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Second Avenue Baptist Church.
