Robert Allen Talley

Robert Allen Talley, age 70, of # 17 Oak Street, Rome, (The Riverside Community) died Saturday morning, October 20th, 2007 at a local hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Talley was born in Gordon County, Georgia in the Curryville Community on June 1st, 1937, the son of the late William Robert "Bob" Talley and the late Daisy Ridley Talley. He was of the Baptist faith. He attended Oostanaula School and resided in that area for 40 years. Mr. Talley was an automobile mechanic the majority of his life and fully retired in 2006 from Heritage Honda, GMC of Rome. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Talley in December, 2000. Mr. Talley was married on June 15th, 1978 to Joan Touchstone Talley who preceded him in death on July 8th, 2002.
Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Sandy Talley and Darlene and Ronnie Thomas all of Rosedale; 2 grandchildren, Kristen Danielle Thomas of Rosedale and CW2 Daniel Lee Thomas and his wife, Merecia of Ft. Riley, Kansas; 1 brother, Malcolm Talley of Rome; 2 step-children, Eddie Lovell of San Bernadino, Calif. and Donna Lowery of Carrollton, GA.; The mother of his children, Joyce Talley Waits of Rosedale. 4 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Robert Allen Talley will be held this (Monday) afternoon, October 22nd, 2007 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Jackson officiating. Mr. Kenneth Falls will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The following are requested to serve as active pallbearers, Harry Yarbrough, Richard Ables, Lonnie Clark, Barnis Hart, Jim Ogles, and J.S. Talley. Honorary pallbearers include, Julian Touchstone, Norman Hightower and Bill Barnes.
Mr. Talley will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family received friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.
