Rebecca W. Wilson, 90, of Rome, GA. passed away July 28, 2012 at Roman Court of Rome.
Mrs. Wilson, affectionately known as "Beck Beck" was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on November 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Jessie Moore Wilson and the late Narvin Johnson Wilson. She was a graduate of Cedar Bluff Alabama High School. She married the love of her life, John Wilburn Wilson on June 6, 1941. For the next 71 years, the two raised three children and spent time at their lake cabin.
Rebecca was a living example of love, caring and compassion to all she met. She held a special place in her heart for all of her many friends. Rebecca will be remembered for her warm smile, caring heart and open arms. She may have left the earth, but her memory will last forever.
The focus of Rebecca's life was her family and her church. She was involved in every aspect of Hill Crest Baptist Church throughout the years where she was a faithful member. She met a countless number of friends there, whom she considered her second family. While raising her family, Rebecca worked at First National Bank and Sun Trust Bank. Pioneering for women, she was an assistant vice president and a first branch manager. Rebecca was forever cheerful, always positive and a joy to be around; everyone loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, John Wilburn Wilson, three children: Myra W. Reeves (Jimmy), Johnny Wilson (Barbara), and Vicki Glover, all of Rome; and four grandchildren: Christi Lambert, Darien, GA, Shannon Lambert, Rome, GA, Jeff Glover, Rome, and Casey Glover, Wilmington, NC. Rebecca was preceded in death by a sister, Lillie Mae Wilson in 2001.
A celebration of Rebecca's life will be held on Monday evening, June 30, 2012 at 7 o'clock in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Skates and the Reverend Brant Lane officiating. Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Wilson will be held on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012 at 10 o'clock at the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
