Ralph Lelton Dodd, Sr.

Mr. Ralph Lelton Dodd, Sr. age 77, of Robin Hood Road, Rome, GA, died Tuesday, December 19th, following an extended illness.
Mr. Dodd was born June 9, 1940, in Rome, son of the late Leo Clayton Dodd and Mary Lou Jenkins Dodd Babcock. Mr. Dodd until his retirement had been employed with Sears Co. as an automobile mechanic, specializing in brake and front end work, retiring in 1993. Mr. Dodd was a member of Cherokee Lodge #66 F&AM and an emeritus member of the Etowah Chapter #30 of the Eastern Star where he was a past patron. He was a member of Northwood Baptist Church and was a graduate of Westcott Vocational High School of Chicago, IL in 1958. Mr. Dodd continued his education with automotive coursework through Coosa Valley Technical College and continuing education classes. Mr. Dodd loved telling jokes, spending time with friends and family, especially the "light of his world", his great-granddaughter, Hensley.
In addition to his parents Mr. Dodd was preceded in death by two children, Ralph Dodd, Jr., and Dauphne Wilbanks.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years Mrs. Shirley Ann Dodd, son and daughter-in-law, Donald Dodd (Tanya) and daughter and son-law, Kristi Park (Tom). Grandchildren, Arron & Jessica Wilbanks, Austin Park, Brandt Dodd, Brice Patterson, Blair & Michael Evans, and Bolton Burns. Great grandchildren, Hensley Wilbanks, Jordan, Jayden & Jace Evans and Walker Burns. Sister, Betty Dodd Boling Julian, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held Saturday January 6, 2018, at 3:00 PM in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Studdard and Rev. Mike Garrett officiating. The family will gather Saturday January 6th at Salmon Funeral Home where they will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour.
There will be a called communications of Cherokee Lodge #66 F&AM for the purpose of attending the services for Mr. Ralph L. Dodd, Sr., Cherokee Lodge has charge of Masonic Rites.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Dodds name to Cherokee Masonic Lodge, 2934 Alabama Highway, Rome, GA, 30165.
