Ms. Phyllis Gayle "Flossie" Salmon, age 76, of Rome, GA. passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 15, 2025.
Ms. Salmon was born on October 3, 1948 in Rome, GA. She was the daughter of the late Logan Eugene Greenwood and Flossie Henrietta Brock Greenwood. Ms. Salmon was a proud graduate of Cass High School, class of 1966 and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was well-known for her fun-loving and outgoing personality. Friends and acquaintances alike cherished her wise advice, as she possessed a remarkable ability to offer meaningful words to anyone fortunate enough to seek her guidance. A devoted public servant, Gayle dedicated over 30 years to the State of Georgia's Department of Labor and Protective Services. Her passion for her job was evident throughout her career as she worked to help others, touching countless lives in her community and all over the state of Georgia. Gayle’s determination and commitment allowed her to rise through the ranks, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and the many individuals she supported along the way. In her spare time, she had a passion for travel, especially to the Gulf of Mexico beaches and the mountains. Gayle also had an eye for design, a true testament to her creative flair and love for interior design and decorating. Life was something she embraced wholeheartedly, filled with joy and appreciation for her friends and family. Her love for gardening and flowers illustrated her nurturing spirit, a reflection of her personality that thrived on helping things grow and prosper. Gayle leaves behind a legacy of compassion, creativity, and a true love for life that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She made the world a brighter place and her spirit will continue to inspire those she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Greenwood and a sister, Myra Stephens.
She is survived by her loving children: Timothy (Leigh) Rolan of Rome, GA and Tina Rolan (Brent Hubbard) of Rome, GA; grandchildren: Andrew and Ansley Rolan of Rome, GA; brother, Max (Elizabeth) Greenwood of Monticello, GA; sisters: Nora (Curt) Howard of White, GA and Rita Jones of Rome, GA and many other loving cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
A gathering of friends to celebrate the life of Ms. Phyllis Gayle “Flossie” Salmon will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Salmon Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
