Patsy Jane Buffington

Patsy Murdock Buffington, age 80, of Leland, North Carolina, and a former resident of Rome and Lavonia, Georgia passed away on Wednesday evening, February 26, 2014, in Leland, North Carolina.

A native of Floyd County, Georgia, Mrs. Buffington was born on February 6, 1934, the daughter of the late Ray and Edna Mae Peace Murdock. She was a graduate of Armuchee High School and was a homemaker. For a period of time, Mrs. Buffington was associated with Celanese Fiber Corp. of Rome and The Floyd County Schools. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church of Rome and a member of the Gateway to the Arbors Senior Community of Leland, NC. She was preceded in death by a brother Billy Murdock. Mrs. Buffington was married for 50 years to Billy Eugene Buffington who preceded her in death on September 6, 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Ann Headrick and her husband, T. Dale Headrick, Sr. of Leland, N.C.; a son, David Eugene Buffington and his wife, Michelle, of Minnesota; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren survives as do two brothers, Jerry Murdock and Edward "Ed" Murdock. Her beloved dog, "Jackson", nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Patsy Murdock Buffington will be held on Monday morning, March 3, 2014 at 11 o'clock at the Antioch Baptist Church, 4526 Big Texas Valley Road, NW, Rome, with Pastor Brian Butler officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Rome.

Mrs. Buffington will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 6 until 9 o'clock.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church on Monday by 10:30 a.m. and include Daniel Murdock, Johnny Murdock, Jacob Headrick, Thomas Headrick, Bryan Fishel and Dale Headrick.
