Patricia Florance Akins

Patricia F. "Patty" Akins, age 62, of #1396 Old Dalton Road, NE, Rome, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, February 15th, 2012 at a Rome hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Patty was born on January 28th, 1950, the daughter of the late Henry F. and Louise Long Akins. She was a life long resident of Rome and attended Rome High School. Patty was a member of the Blue Pond Baptist Church and was associated with Redfords and Sears of Rome. Patty was preceded in death by a brother, Joel D. Akins, by a sister, Charlotte Akins and by a brother-in-law, Bobby Jones in 2008.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Jo Jones of Rome; a brother, Robert W. Akins of Rockmart, GA.; a niece, Pamela J. Head of Rome; 2 nephews, Charles W. Jones and Steve Bailey both of Rome and a special friend, Terry Stimson of Rome.

Funeral serves for Patricia F. "Patty" Akins will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 18th, 2012 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Cowart officiating with interment to follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Patty will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Friday) evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. At other hours they will be at the residence.

The following will serve as active pallbearers, Terry Stimson, Lee Ray, Billy Spears, Eddie and Lamar Garrett, Nolan Matthews and Willie Ganett.
