Mr. Otto 'Anibal' Valdez, age 57, of Calhoun, GA, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Anibal was born on July 11, 1967, in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He was a devoted family man and found great joy in spending time with his loved ones and cherished each moment they shared together. Anibal loved to travel, particularly back to Guatemala, showcased his deep ties to his heritage and culture, and his appreciation for the world around him.
Anibal is survived by his loving wife, Ana Valdez of Calhoun, and his mother, Maria Deleon Cruz, along with her husband, Mario Cruz, all of Calhoun; daughters, Vanessa Valdez of Boston, Massachusetts; Amy Ca Trejon and her husband Nicholas of Maryland, Vivian Maldonado and her husband Ruben of Rome, Georgia; sons, Christopher Fuentes and his wife Jaqueline from Boston, Santiago Valdez and his wife Elena of Dalton, Georgia; sister, Ana Fajardo and her husband Ludwin; brother, Enrique Valdez and his wife Monica, all of Calhoun, Georgia. He was a proud grandfather to Angel, Jace, Luis Jr., Noah, Isaac, Aria, Nicholas Jr., and Savannah, who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his brother-in-law, Marcos Alvarez, and by several nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by his kindness and spirit.
Otto was preceded in death by his father, Ottoniel Valdez; son, Eswin Alexander Fuentes and his sister, Lucy Alvarez.
A funeral mass to honor Anibal Valdez will be held on Wednesday afternoon, April 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St Clement's Catholic Church in Calhoun. Anibal's family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 p.m. Following the funeral mass and visitation, Anibal will be cremated, and his ashes will be placed in a columbarium niche in Calhoun.
Otto will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and his passion for life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
