Norman L. Skidmore, born May 7, 1943 in Baltimore, MD died in faith on Tuesday January 10, 2023. After graduating high school at Lakeview - Ft. Oglethorpe, four years in the United States Air Force, graduation from Berry College, he began his work career as a Community Planner with the Coosa Valley Area Planning and Development Commission; concluding his career as a Partner and President of North Georgia Lift Truck Service. For several years each, he also served on the Rome City Commission, Floyd County Planning Commission and the Floyd County Tax Equalization Board.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Nelle Skidmore; two brothers, Ronald and Stephen. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Skidmore; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jaime Skidmore; brother, Paul Skidmore; sister, Vivian Langford and brother-in-law, Terry Hibbert.
He is a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Rome where he served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. He was often referred to good naturedly as “Reformed Norm” and always stood ready to give a reason for the hope that was in him. In more recent years he attended Midway Presbyterian Church in Powder Springs.
Visitation will be on Saturday January 14,2023 at Salmon Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. In accordance to his wishes no formal service will be held. He will be buried in East View Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Heyman Hospice Care for the excellent care they provided during Mr. Norman’s sickness. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that donation be made to Heyman Hospice Care in Mr. Skidmore’s honor; 420 E. 2nd Ave. #105, Rome, GA 30161.
