Nicholas James Gulow, age 15, of 65 Glen Lake Road, Rome, GA, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Nicholas was born on December 13, 1995, the son of Russell David and Brandi Deleise Langley Gulow. He attended Glenwood Elementary School and Armuchee Elementary School. While a student at Armuchee Middle School Nicholas was a member of the Middle School Band, the Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. At the time of his death, he was a sophomore at Rome High School. Nicholas was a member of the Rome High Wolves Football Team, the ROTC, where he was a member of the Kitty Hawk Honor Society, was a member of FCA, served on the Yearbook Staff, was a Shot Put athlete on the Track and Field Team and also did video work for the basketball and soccer teams. Nicholas was an amateur photographer, loved the beach, and was an active volunteer in various areas. He attended Life Church.

He is survived by his parents, his paternal grandfather, Lanny Gulow and Carolyn Gulow of Duncan, OK. and his maternal grandparents Linda Langley and Michael Langley of Rome, and his maternal great grandmother Joyce Langley of Rome.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Msgt. Debra Elaine Gulow, maternal great-grandfather, James Joseph Langley, maternal great-grandmother, Dee Dunn, maternal great-grandfather, Clyde Wright, and maternal great-grandfather, Monroe Dunn.

Funeral services for Nicholas will be held on Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Jody Hagerty, Mr. Shane Morgan, Mr. Clay Shiflett and Mr. Jacob Dostie officiating.

The family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. in the Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church on Thursday by 3:30 p.m. and include Dakota Godfrey, Tripp Lanham, Grayson Lanham, Carlie Yernest and Abby Langley. The Rome High Football Team will serve as honorary pallbearers.
