Minyonne Stevens McGuiness, age 87, of 110 Chief Vann Drive, Rome, died early Saturday morning, March 24th, 2007, at the residence.
Mrs. McGuiness was born on November 28th, 1919 in McComb, Mississippi to George and Caroline Badon Stevens. She had been a resident of Rome since 1963 moving here from Birmingham, Alabama. Mrs. McGuiness was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rome and prior to her retirement was associated with Inland Paperboard and Packaging of Rome after 25 years of service. She was an avid bowler, continuing to bowl until a year ago. Minyonne had served as Secretary of the Rome Women's Bowling Association several times, was a member of the American Bowling Congress and loved to attend bowling tournaments all over the country with her many bowling friends. She also enjoyed taking porcelain art from her dear friend, Daisy Henderson and was a member of the Lenoa Clements Chapter of the Porcelain Art Guild. Minyonne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur McGuiness to whom she was married on February 1st, 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Minyonne is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn McGuiness of Rome and Jean McGuiness Simpson and her husband, Danny of Cave Spring, Ga.; 2 grandchildren, Adam and Jessica Simpson both of Cave Spring.
A Celebration of Minyonne's life will be held on Tuesday morning, March 27th, 2007, at 11 o'clock from the graveside of East View Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Caywood officiating. Minyonne will be laid to rest beside her husband, Charles Arthur McGuiness at East View Cemetery following the graveside service.
Mrs. McGuiness will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
