Michael Ray "Big Mike" Stephens

Michael Ray "Big Mike" Stephens age 60 of Sheridan Drive, Rome died Saturday following a brief illness.

Mr. Stephens was born November 27, 1957 in Rome, GA son of the late Donald Lee Stephens and Jessie Vasser Stephens. Until his retirement Mr. Stephens had been in automotive sales for over 42 years, most recently associated with Dan Smith Motors in Rome. Mr. Stephens was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, he was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his wife Linda Sue Roberson Stephens in 2002.

Survivors include: his son, Nicholas Morrow M.D. (Jessica) Cartersville; daughter, Jonette Roberson, Cartersville; two brothers, Rick Stephens and Donnie Stephens, sister, Kathy Jones and a special niece, Jessica Jones, two grandsons, Everett Cozmo Brannon and Sutton Elbert Morrow, a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11AM in the chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Rev Mack Locklear officiating, interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will gather at Salmon Funeral Home Tuesday where they will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM, at other hours they may be contacted at their respective residences.

Pallbearers are ask to meet at Salmon Funeral Home Wednesday 10:30 AM and include: Butch Payne, David Payne, Bradley Roberson, Bill Collins, Ches Smith and Ramey Salmon.
