Michael Gilbert

Michael Gilbert, age 58, of Cartersville, GA. and a long time resident of Armuchee, passed away Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 at a local hospital.

A native of Floyd County, Mr. Gilbert was born on March 26th, 1952, the son of the late William Oren and Bernice Estelle Sparks Gilbert. He had spent the greater part of his life in Rome and attended Armuchee High School. Mr. Gilbert was of the Baptist faith and was a mechanic. Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Lane Gilbert.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Heath Gilbert to whom he was married on November 15th, 1986; 3 daughters, Kelly Gribble, Angela Settlmoir both of Rome and Chelsee Crisp of Cartersville, GA.; 3 sons, Jason Gilbert of Rome and Caleb Gilbert of Cartersville, GA. and David Evans of Dahlonega, GA.; 7 grandchildren; 4 sisters, JoNell Chester of Chattanooga, TN., Peggy Tate and Cindy Sharpe both of Rome and Elesha Trantham of Woodstock, GA.; 2 brothers, Darryl Gilbert and Rick Gilbert both of Armuchee. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Michael Gilbert will be held on Saturday afternoon, October 30th, 2010 at 1 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Bob R. Sampley officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Gilbert will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 o'clock a.m. until the funeral hour. At other hours they will be at their respective homes.

Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
