Michael Blake Selman, age 26, of 698 Texas Valley, Rome, passed away on
February 8, 2013 after a lifetime battle with Neurofibromatosis.
Michael was born in Floyd County, Ga. on November 24, 1986, son of Neal Selman and Doris King Selman. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Selman, grandmother Ann King, and cousin Jeremy Selman. Michael was a 2006 graduate of Armuchee High School. He was a recent member of Antioch Baptist Church but a former longtime member of Armuchee Baptist Church. He was an avid John Wayne fan and loved video games and movies.
Survivors include his parents, Neal and Doris King Selman; two brothers, Richard Selman (Rebecca Anthony) and Tim Selman (Cherilyn), nieces Briana Selman and Emma Rose Selman, nephews Adam Selman and Easton Selman. He is also survived by his grandmother Gertrude Cox Selman and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Funeral services for Michael Blake Selman will be held on Tuesday afternoon, February 12, 2013 at 3 o'clock at the Armuchee Baptist Church on the Big Texas Valley Road with the Reverend Darrell Webb and the Reverend Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery, Big Texas Valley.
The family will receive friends at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel, 2516 New Calhoun Hwy, Rome, GA 30161 this (Monday) evening from 6 until 9 o'clock. At other hours, they may be contacted at the home of his parents.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the Armuchee Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon by 2:30 p.m. and include: Jesse and Edgar King, Shane Johnson, Matt Fowler, Sam Selman and Franklin Selman. Honorary pallbearers, Russell Vansise, Michael Corbin, Kim Parker, Ronnie King and Randall Selman.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Neurosciences Department of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Donations can be made at www.choa.org.
