Mavis H. Touchstone

Mavis H. Touchstone, age 85, of #48 Ramblewood Drive, SE, Silver Creek, GA. died Wednesday night, March 10th, 2010 at a local hospital.
A native of Jackson County, Florida, Mrs. Touchstone was born on October 31st, 1924, the daughter of the late Coley P. and Docia Franklin Hartzog. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Prior to her retirement in 1986, Mrs. Touchstone was associated with K-Mart for 15 years. Mrs. Touchstone was preceded in death by a son, David Touchstone, by a great-grandson, Chase Keener, by a brother, Vessie Hartzog and a sister, Mary Riggins. Mrs. Touchstone was married on March 27th, 1943 to Henry Thomas Touchstone who preceded her in death in September 1996.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Richard Sparks of Silver Creek; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Gribble, Jason Gilbert, Angela Settlemoir, Kimberly Howe, Tabitha Jett and Crystal Touchstone. 13 great-grandchildren also survive as do nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Mavis H. Touchstone will be held on Sunday afternoon, March 14th, 2010 at 4 o'clock at the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church with the Rev. Mac McCurry and the Rev. Edward E. Holsomback officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Floyd Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Touchstone will lie-in-state at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until 4 o'clock where the family will receive friends. At other hours they will be at the residence.
The following will service as active pallbearers, Jason Gilbert, Ronnie Gribble, Jim Kelly, Dustin Howe, Bob Howe and Bill Riggins.
