Matthew Lee Thompson, 35, of Armuchee Georgia, took his final steps home in January 2019. He was born January 14th, 1984, in Austell, Georgia and was dearly loved by his family. Affectionately known as "Matty" and Uncle Matthew", he was a cherished son who loved his family and especially treasured his two daughters.
Matthew loved the outdoors and particularly camping. His favorite indoor pastimes were teasing anyone within reach and giving each person (or pet) their own unique nickname. His quick wit, funny faces, and unique dance styles entertained old and young alike. Matthew traveled the country extensively with his dad and made many friends in the music industry.
Matthew was a wandering soul and he took many detours in his lifes journey. His Lord and Saviors grace and mercy followed him as unconditional love beckoned him back to the right path. One of his favorite worship songs echoed straight into his heart "A thousand times I've failed, still Your mercy remainsand should I stumble again, I'm caught in Your grace" Each step away brought him closer home.
Matthew is survived by his daughters, Brooklyn Marie (Balki) Thompson of Buford, and Kaidence Divinity (Tinky-butt) Thompson of Chattanooga; parents Ricky and Karen (Carter) Thompson of Armuchee; brothers Corey (Carrie) Thompson of Adairsville and Ben (Jenn) Thompson of Rydal; Grandparents Harry and Wilma Thompson of Summerville and Dan and Barbara Carter of Rome; an aunt and uncle and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two special ladies Kelly Gorham and Erin Pettigrew.
The family will have a private celebration of Matthews life as we remember the blessing of this special young man.
