Mrs. Mary Sue Denson Thomas, age 84, of 1345 Redmond Road, Rome, and a former long time resident of the Alabama Highway, Coosa Community, died Sunday morning, August 19th, 2007 at Golden Living Center of Rome.
A native of Cherokee County, Alabama, Mrs. Thomas was born on September 30th, 1922, the daughter of the late Rev. William O. and Willie Hawkins Denson. She was a homemaker and a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomas along with her late husband owned and operated Thomas Antiques on the Alabama Highway. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Willie Mae Thomas on August 24th, 2001. Mrs. Thomas was married on July 23rd, 1939 to John Winston "J.W." Thomas who preceded her in death on August 31st, 2004.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Bonnie Thomas of Aragon, Georgia; 2 grandchildren, Wayne Thomas of Rome and Alyssa Thomas Ingram and her husband, Glen of Silver Creek; 1 great- grandson, Travis Payne, 2 brothers and a sister in-law, J.C. and Dawn Denson of Rome, and Curtis Denson of Lawrenceville, GA., 2 sisters, Flora Allen and Alta Raudonis both of Rome; a sister-in-law, Juanita Clements of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sue Denson Thomas will be held on Tuesday morning, August 21st, 2007 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Cordle officiating. Interment to follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Charles and Lewis Gladden, Wayne Thomas, Van Wright and Woody Clements.
Mrs. Thomas will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the home of the granddaughter and her husband, Alyssa and Glen Ingram, 750 Wax Road, Silver Creek.
