Mary Rebekah Martin

Mary Rebekah "Becky" Martin, age 85, of 108 Keown Road, SE, Rome, GA. died Friday afternoon, March 23rd, 2007, at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Martin was born on February 16th, 1922, the daughter of the late Tom W. and Lula Barron Stone. She was a member of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, a homemaker and prior to her retirement was a floral designer with Shorter Heights Florist. Mrs. Martin was married on September 26th, 1942 to Cohen R. Martin who survives.
Survivors include her husband, Cohen Martin, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Dave Willis of Rome and Becky and Smith Lucas of Rome; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Susan Martin of Newnan, GA.; 3 grandchildren, Pvt. David M. Willis of Ft. Knox, KY., Hannah and Jonathan Lucas both of Rome; 2 sisters, Sara Shearer of Jacksonville, Fla. and Bessie Street of Deltona, Fla. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held on Tuesday afternoon, March 27th, 2007, at 2:30 at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of Rome with Dr. Joe Baskin, Rev. Alan Hughes and Rev. Larry Burgess officiating. Interment will be private in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Martin will lie-in-state at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of Rome and the family will receive friends at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of Rome on Tuesday from 1 o'clock until 2:30. At other hours they will be at the residence.
On Tuesday lunch will be served for the family and out of town guest at 11:30 at the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church.
