Mary Kate Radney

Mrs. Mary Kate Sharp Radney, age 82, of 123 Presley Street, West Rome, GA, died Saturday morning, February 25, 2012, in a local hospital.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Radney was born on September 30, 1929, the daughter of the late Luther Hampton and the late Willie Mae Carver Hampton. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County all her life and was a member of the Little Creek Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Radney was a longtime associate of Klopman Mills and for a period of time was associated with Morrison's Cafeteria. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.W. Sharp, in 1992, and later was married in 2000 to Garner W. Radney, who preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Radney was also preceded in death by three sister and three brothers.

Mrs. Radney is survived by a daughter, Rita Childers (Danny) of Rome; one son, Rev. J.R. Sharp (Tina) of Rome; six grandchildren, Dewayne Kelley, Jason Kelley, Christy Taki, Shauna Sharp, J.D. Childers and Jennifer Sharp; five great-grandchildren, Tristian Kelley, Hayden Kelley, Finley Kate Kelley, Levi Davis and Troy Davis. A sister, Sara Henry of Rome and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Radney will be held on Monday afternoon, February 27, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Rev. John Huffman and Rev. Franklin Towe officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Radney will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Sunday) evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. At other hours they will be at the residence.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday by 1:30 p.m. and include Michael Sharp, Ricky Hampton, Wayne Childers, Kenneth Kelley, Gary Towe, Manfred Cochran and Carey Wright.
