Mary Adelle Crider

Mrs. Adelle Broome Crider, age 86, of Centre, AL, and the Little Texas Valley Community, Rome, died Thursday morning, October 7, 2010, in a local hospital.

A native of Rome and Floyd County, Mrs. Crider was born on August 5, 1924, the daughter of the late Lester Mathis and Ruby Wilson Mathis. She was a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of her life and lived the past 30 years in Centre. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Crider was associated with Lindale Manufacturing for a number of years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Davis Crider, in December of 2001. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Opal Ray Selman and Annie Mae Buffington, and a brother, Howard Mathis.

Mrs. Crider is survived by a daughter, Carol B. Padgett of Rome; a step-daughter, Deborah Stowe of Centre, AL.; a step-son, Jeff Crider of Cave Spring, GA; a grandson and his wife, Chris and Tanya Padgett of Rome; three step-grandchildren, Mike Stowe, Heather Matheny and Brandy Crider; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kinsley Padgett. Several step-great-grandchildren also survive. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crider will be held this (Saturday) afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Antioch Baptist Church in Texas Valley with Rev. Edward E. Holsomback and Rev. Gregg Free officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Antioch Baptist Church today (Saturday) from 1:00 o'clock until the funeral hour. At other the family will be at the home of a grandson and his wife, Chris and Tanya Padgett, #34 Amberwood Trail, Rome, GA.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church by 1:30 p.m. today and include Ricky Dale Jennings, Lee Selman, Stan Crider, Tim Crider, Mike Stowe and John Pledger.
