Martha Lucile Holcombe

Martha Lucile Holcombe, age 89 of #114 Sheridan Drive, Rome died Monday evening, January 28th, 2008 at the residence.
A native of Fulton County, Georgia, Mrs. Holcombe was born on June 3rd, 1918, the daughter of the late George W. and Carrie Elizabeth Smith Reed. She had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Holcombe served as a cashier with Randolf's Red Diamond Food Store and she loved quilting, reading, working puzzles and feeding animals. Mrs. Holcombe was preceded in death by a son, Donald M. Holcombe in 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Joann Lachney of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Delores Holcombe of Blairsville, Ga.; 6 grandchildren, Alex Deck, Eric Holcombe, Valerie Holcombe Hancock, Tina Deck Hinkley, Sonya Holcombe Brooks and Chris Deck. 11 great-grandchildren also survive as do a sister, Kathleen Austin of Rockmart, Ga. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Martha Lucile Holcombe will be held on Thursday afternoon, January 31st, 2008 at 2 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Hinkley officiating with interment to follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Ben Elkin, Brian Hancock, James Loveless, Gary Austin, Tony Raymer and Dustin Raymer.
Mrs. Holcombe will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
