Martha Free, age 58, of Thomas Bluff Road NE, Rome, passed away Tuesday morning, October 2nd, 2012 at the residence.
Martha was born in Marshall County, Alabama, on June 11th, 1954, the daughter of the late John D. Roden who passed away in May 1998 and the late Ruth Griffith Roden who passed away in October 1994. Martha had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and attended Model High School. Martha was a member of the New Canaan Baptist in Cartersville, Georgia. Martha was associated with Galey and Lord for more than 20 years and with Mohawk Industries for 7 years where she served as a supervisor. Martha loved working with people and motivating them to always do their best. Martha was preceded in death by a brother, James Roden in October 1994.
Survivors include her husband, Julius Byron Free to whom she was married on October 15th, 1971; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Pam Free of Ball Ground Georgia; a daughter, Shauna Free and her fianc David Ward of Rome; 4 grandsons, Tyler Free, Connor Franks, Clayton Free and Jonathan Free; 3 step-grandchildren, Tyler Ward, Diana Ward and Charlie Ward; 3 sisters, Betty Copeland of Rome, Shelby Hardin of Rockmart, GA. and Francis Parker of Plainville, GA; 1 brother, Robert Roden of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Martha leaves behind a loving, caring family and a host of friends that she loved very much.
Funeral services for Martha will be held on Thursday morning, October, 4th, 2012 at 11 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of the Fred Talley's Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Towe officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with White Doves released at the graveside.
The family will receive friends at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel this (Wednesday) evening beginning at 6 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
The following will serve as active pallbearers, Bart Swann, Kevin Parker, Billy Garmeny, Chad Walker, Eric Walker and Stephen Crumley.
