Martha Frances Blair, age 84, of Rome, GA, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, following an extended illness.
A native of Rome and Floyd County, Martha was born on March 8, 1030, the daughter of the late James Edward Crowell and Nola Beatrice Alexander Crowell. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd Country all her life. Prior to retirement, Martha was a licensed Insurance Agent and for a period of time was a bus driver for Floyd County Schools. She enjoyed crafts, working puzzles and watching TV. Martha was married on November 15, 1947 to Cecil Quillan "Cricket" Blair, Jr., with whom she ran a snowball truck for a period of time. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2002. A son, Cecil Quillan Blair, III, also preceded her in death as well as two brothers and two sisters.
Martha is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Annette and Richard Timothy Blair of Rome, and Frances "Fran" and Rocky Dale Jackson of Opelika, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil Eugene and Sandra Blair of Centre, AL, and Rufus Howard "Hal" and Christina Blair of Rome. Eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Martha will be held on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.
Martha will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this (Monday) evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
