Mamie Jo Branton

Mrs. Mamie ‘Jo’ Starnes Branton, age 86, of Rome, Georgia passed away Friday, June 3, 2022. Jo was born on September 11, 1935 in Cassville, Georgia, to the late, John W. and Pallie Vaughn Starnes.
She Graduated from Cass High School and from North Georgia Business College. In addition to her parents, Jo is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene ‘Gene’ Branton; three Brothers, Albert, Johnny and Harvey Starnes; sister, Helen Green; grandchild, Kyle Stone; and a sister-in-love, Faye Starnes. She was employed by American Cyanamid Company for 15 years before joining her husband at Branton Electric Motors. She enjoyed field trailing with her husband, swimming, water skiing and playing golf. She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Sunday School Class, she was also a member of the Callier Springs Country Club for a number of years.
Survivors include her loving son, Darrell Branton, of Rome, Georgia; grandchildren, Brandy Porter and Fiancé, Justin Smith, Steven Branton, Jeremy Branton; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Clara (Wallace) Holcomb; sister-in-love, Joyce Starnes and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The visitation for Jo will take place at Salmon Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 7th, from 5PM until 8PM. The funeral service to honor the life of Jo will be at 1PM from Spring Creek Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 with Reverend Jim Reynolds officiating. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 at Spring Creek Baptist Church from 12PM until the service hour. Burial will follow the funeral service at Floyd Memory Gardens.
