Lucian Arthur (D.O.M.) L.A. Mckinney

Lucian Arthur (D.O.M.) "L.A." McKinney, age 76, of #300 Wilkerson Road, SW, Rome, died Thursday evening, February 22nd, 2007, at a local hospital.
A native of Cherokee County, Ala., Mr. McKinney was born on July 18th, 1930, the son of the late David Norman McKinney and Velma Payne McKinney. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Mineral Society, Local #48 of Atlanta and Coker-Adams- American Legion Post #52. Prior to his retirement Mr. McKinney was an Insulator with Local #48 of Atlanta. Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Ann McKinney in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila M. McKinney, 2 sons, Norman Lee McKinney of Montgomery, Ala. and Charles David McKinney of Augusta, Ga.; a step-daughter, Jada Tate of Rome; 1 step-son, Scott Eugene Long of Rome; 3 grandchildren, Brandie Williams, Kristina Johnson and Amy Lee Ashton, 2 step-grandchildren, John Tate, Jr. and Chystal Carlock, 13 great-grandchildren also survive, 2 sisters, Evelyn McCary of Rome and Wydeen Webb of Armuchee, 1 brother, W.L. McKinney of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Lucian Arthur (D.O.M.) "L.A." McKinney will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 25th, 2007 at 3 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave West officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Shanklin-Attaway Post # 5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
Mr. McKinney will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Saturday) evening from 6 until 9 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at #737 Burnett Ferry Road, Rome.
