Mrs. Linda Jean Simpson, age 74, of Rome, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 26, 2025.
Mrs. Simpson was born on August 23, 1950 in Endicott, NY. She was the daughter of the late Franklyn and Jean Bennett Snyder. Mrs. Simpson was a devoted teacher; she dedicated many years to children as a special education teacher. She also worked in finance as a banker later in her life. Her passion for her work was evident throughout her career as she worked to help others, touching countless lives in her many years of service. In her spare time, she had a passion for gardening and the holidays, especially decorating for each holiday season. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family. She also loved crafting! Linda enjoyed ceramics, sewing, doll making, quilting and being a seamstress. Mrs. Simpson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Linda made the world a brighter place and her spirit will continue to inspire those she touched.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty one years, Donald ‘Don’ G. Simpson of Rome; children: James (Judy) Simpson of New Durham, NH, Bentley Simpson of Holly Springs, GA and Brenda Ordway of Cartersville, GA; step-mother, Nancy Snyder of NY; brother, Robert (Terri) Snyder of Canton, GA; grandchildren: Stephen and Jennifer Simpson, Hannah Ordway, Hailey Simpson and her five siblings and many other loving cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
A gathering of friends to celebrate the life of Mrs. Linda Jean Simpson will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Salmon Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Following the visitation period a Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in the Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend the service in person, it will be live-streamed, with access provided below.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dementia Society of America or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in Mrs. Simpson’s memory.
