Lemuel Davis Corbin

November 26, 1925 — August 15, 2009

Mr. Lemuel D. Corbin, age 83, of #27 Ash Street, Rome, GA. (the Riverside Community) died Saturday, August 15th, 2009 at a local hospital.
A native of Rome, Mr. Corbin was born on November 26, 1925, the son of the late Erve A. and Cora Lee Davis Corbin. He spent most of his life in Rome and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. Mr. Corbin was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church and Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM. Prior to his retirement Mr. Corbin was associated with Celanese.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Faye Fisher Corbin to whom he was married on June 21st, 1947,2 daughters and a son-in-law, Glenda and Ricky Chapman of Cartersville, GA. and Linda Corbin of Rome; 5 grandchildren, David Lamb, Jody Gordon, Julie Cronan, Dana Gordon and Amanda Warner, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Mary Lou Corbin, Bess Scoggins, Faye Nell Selman and Sue Brooks all of Rome; 2 brothers, Warren Corbin of Summerville and Lewis Corbin of Atlanta, GA. also survive.
Funeral services for Lemuel D. Corbin will be held on Monday afternoon, August 17th, 2009 at 2:30 at the Riverside Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Shanlin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard and Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM conducting military and Masonic gravesides rites. There will be a called communication of Cherokee Masonic Lodge on Monday at 1 o'clock at the lodge for the purpose of attending the funeral services.
Mr. Corbin will lie-in-state at the church on Monday where the family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:30. At other hours they will be at the residence.
Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers, Jody Gordon, David Lamb, Bo Bohannon, Edward Selman, Phillip Fisher and Don Reynolds and honorary pallbearers include James Howren and John Rice.
