Kinney Edward Kilgore

Kinney E. Kilgore, age 76, of #9 Chief Vann Drive, Rome, died suddenly at his residence.
A native of Floyd County, Mr. Kilgore was born on January 27th, 1930, the son of the late Robert Lee and Dollie Dimple Jones Kilgore. Mr. Kilgore had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the West Rome Baptist Church, Local 191 and prior to his retirement was associated with General Electric. Mr. Kilgore was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Melba Beard Kilgore in 1970 and by his 2nd wife, Martha Davis Kilgore.
Survivors include 1 daughter and son-in-law, Kim and William Dooley of Dallas, GA.; 1 son, Kris Kilgore of Miami, Fla.; 1 grandson, Connor Kilgore Dooley, 2 sisters, Anna Lee of Greiner, Tenn. and Joan Garrett of Rome, 1 brother, Gary Kilgore of Folkston, Ga. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Kilgore will be held on Thursday morning, January 25th, 2007, at 11 o'clock from the graveside of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Pastor Gene Bates officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post # 5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites.
Active pallbearers include, Hugh Don Abbott, Haskell Perry, Buddy Minshew, Alfred Brumbelow, Doyle Cape and Marvin Griffith. Member of the General Electric Maintenance Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. Active and honorary pallbearers are requested to meet at the graveside at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens by 10:30 Thursday morning.
Mr. Kilgore will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Wednesday) evening from 6 until 8 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
