Kenneth Wells Childress

Kenneth Wells Childress, age 88, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025. 

Mr. Kenneth was born on September 19, 1936, in Jackson County, Alabama and graduated from Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden, Alabama. Throughout his career, he worked at the local bakery, where he held many positions, contributing to the company and serving with commitment and pride.

He was known for his love of classic cars and hot rods, cherishing the moments he spent driving and admiring these timeless machines. He loved the mountains, particularly enjoying trips to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where he created lasting memories with his loved ones. Additionally, Kenneth had a great fondness for animals, especially dogs, which brought him immense joy throughout his life.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Tammy Lowe, and her husband Lincoln, of Piedmont, Alabama; grandchildren, Brandy (Patrick) Kennedy, Lance Lowe, and Logan Lowe; as well as his great-grandchildren, Emma Lowe, Riley Kennedy and Liam Kennedy. He shared meaningful friendships with Alan and Edith Binkley, who were a cherished part of his life.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Linda Jane Braswell Childress, and his parents, Bruce and Stella Hedrick Childress.

A funeral service to honor Mr. Kenneth's life will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Salmon Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the funeral service in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 11:00 AM until the service hour on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Salmon Funeral Home. 

Kenneth Wells Childress will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his love for his community, and his enthusiastic spirit for life. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.
