Katherine "Katie" King Corbin, age 63, of Rome, died on Monday evening, March 5th, 2012, at a Rome hospital.
A native of Gordon County, GA, Katie was born on April 6th, 1948, the daughter of the late Grady Ledford King who preceded her in death on January 14, 2012, and the late, Virginia Dobson King who preceded her in death in 1952. The greater part of her life was spent in Floyd and Cobb Counties. Katie was a 1966 graduate of Armuchee High School and received an Associate's Degree from Kennesaw State College in Kennesaw, GA. Katie was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rome where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and a former member to the Church Choir. She was a former member of Three Rivers Singers. For a period of time Katie was associated with Southern Bell of Rome, General Electric of Rome and Palmer Brick Company of Atlanta. Katie was preceded in death by her step-mother, Emma Evans Adams King in 2001.
Katie is survived by a son Mark Joseph Corbin; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Raymond Barnett of Rosedale, GA, and Ann and William Eubanks of Euharlee, GA.; an aunt, Betty Tutterrow and her husband, Bob, of Rising Fawn, GA.; 2 nieces, Angela Berry and Wendy A. Collins; 3 nephews, John Cordle, Tim Cordle and Anthony Cordle. A great-niece, Priscilla Collins; 2 great-nephews, Avery Berry and Cody Collins, also survive.
A memorial service for Katherine "Katie" King Corbin will be held on Friday afternoon, March 9th, 2012, at 2:00 o'clock at Trinity United Methodist Church of Rome with Dr. David Campbell and the Rev. Wayne Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Rosedale.
The family will receive friends at the Trinity United Methodist Church (606 Turner McCall Blvd, Rome, GA) on Friday afternoon from 12 noon until 2 o'clock.
