Karen Faye Law

March 22, 1957 — April 19, 2024

Karen Faye Burns Law, age 67, of Rome, GA, passed away early Friday morning, April 19,

2024 at her home where she was being cared for by a dear friend, Ann Langston, and surrounded by the love of her family near and far.

Karen was born on March 22, 1957, a daughter of the late Buren L. Burns and Charlotte

Ann Nix Burns.  She had been a resident of Rome for her entire life and was a 1975 graduate of Armuchee High School.

Karen worked for many years as a fulfilment specialist where she worked with and supervised employees from all walks of life. No matter their circumstances she treated everyone the same. She lived her entire life under the philosophy that mistakes don’t define you, it’s what you do after that counts. She was always drawn to the outcasts and the lost souls of the world, she just had a special way of seeing the absolute best in everyone. Her loving nature touched everyone she met, showing us the power of compassion and empathy. She was a loving and loyal friend to all. She loved to laugh and tell stories. Her sarcastic humor could lift even the heaviest hearts, reminding us to find laughter in life’s trials. She hated sandwiches, but loved bacon. She had a fun-loving and free spirit. She enjoyed spending time near the water, especially the beach and lake. She loved to sit on her carport with friends and family to talk for hours and cook out. Her nonjudgmental and caring heart created a safe place where everyone felt accepted and valued – she oftentimes provided unofficial counseling services when needed.Sometimes charging a nickel.

Karen’s face lit up with joy whenever she spoke about her family. Being “Mimi” was the highlight of her lifeHer grandchildren were her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her love for them was evident in every word she spoke and every action she took. The deep passionate love she had for her family is something everyone wishes to experience in this life.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Lamar

Burns, and sister-in-law, Peggy Burns.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Melissa Warren and her husband Kip of Cartersville,

GA; son, Daniel Law of Rome; brother, David Burns and his wife Becky of Armuchee,

GA; sister, Wanda Shelley and her husband Ricky of Largo, FL; grandchildren:

Kinsley, Savannah, Emmett, Maggie, Brock and Molly. A great-grandson, Colt William. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive. We would be remiss in not mentioning the number of “adopted” children she claimed through the years. There were so many who came across her path and touched her heart that she forever loves dearly.

As we bid farewell to our dear friend, let us carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity in our daily lives forever.
