Josephine Agnes Martin

Josephine Agnes Pappalardo Martin, age 87, of Rome died Tuesday morning, July 7th, 2009 at Summit HealthCare of Rome.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Martin was born on February 22nd, 1922, the daughter of the late Sam and Effie Staton Pappalardo. She had spent most of her life in Rome and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. For many years Mrs. Martin served as a buyer and floral designer for Belk Rhodes of Rome and for many years was co-owner along with her late husband of Martin Grocery of Rome. Mrs. Martin was married to Donald Stewart Martin on March 23rd, 1940 who preceded her in death on December 25th, 1994.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Scott Loomis of Rome; 1 son, Anthony Martin of McDonough, Georgia; 3 grandchildren, David (Della) Gore, Cindy Agan and Daniel (Denise) Martin, 7 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Corey Agan, Austin Gore, Ashley Curry, Heather Bramblett, Paul and Trenton Martin, 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam Pappalardo, Jr. and his wife, Paralee of Rome and Tony and Dot Pappalardo of Jacksonville, Fla.; 2 sisters, Emily Bowen and Helen Stone both of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Josephine Agnes Pappalardo Martin will be held on Thursday afternoon, July 9th, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. from the graveside of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Mr. Rex Lynn officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Martin will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock.
