Mr. John Robert Muysken, age 75, of Cartersville, GA formally of Rome, passed away on September 26,2024. He was born on September 3, 1949, in the Philippines.
John was deeply engaged in his community and spirituality. John was a proud member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he served with the Knights of Columbus. During his time with the Knights of Columbus he empowered men to live their faith actively in all aspects of life—at home, in church, and in their daily interactions. In his personal life, John was always “on the go,” embodying a love for adventure and activity. He had a profound love for music, particularly The Eagles band, and found joy in playing the guitar and singing. He enjoyed various hobbies that kept him active, such as frisbee golf, roller skating and skateboarding. John even use to build skateboards. When he would enjoy some down time, it was usually with his special dog, Spice while enjoying a cold caramel macchiato. Throughout his career at Packaging Atlanta and Dollar General, John demonstrated an unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife who passed away on September 22, 2021, Ginger Muysken; as well as his parents, John and Dorothy Muysken; brother, Walter Muysken; sister-in-law, Tylee Walton and his special great grand dog, Oscar.
He is survived by his loving children: Westley (Becca) Muysken of Rome, GA; Olivia (Eldon) Waits of Cartersville, GA; and Connie (David) Harris of CA; sister, Mary (Curtis) Loup of LA, sisters-in-law: Lexine Muysken of CA, Teresa (Dean) Pitts of Resaca, GA; brother-in-law, Dennis (Debi) Walton; grandchildren: Alyssa (Mario), Chelsea (Donavan), Zachary (Jazmine), Tyler, Robin, Adrian and Cameron; five great grandchildren: Lincoln, Nixon, Dottie, Elena, Kaylin and a number of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Mass to honor the life of Mr. John Robert Muysken will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:15 AM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church; 911 N Broad St, Rome, GA 30161.
